Default DFW Tuner

Anyone got a recommendation on a great ( good is ...well..not good enough) tuner in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who can work a 96 LT4. I want to pick there brain before I venture off into setting up a build for a 383. I want realistic expectations and a streetable car when I am done. I would expect 450 hp at the flywheel would be reasonable ( +/- 1.25 hp per cu.in.) goal. I have built several 383's...but not in a Gen II format with EFI. Mechanically, no sweat...tuning the electronics...well I am 61 so what does that tell you...I barely can turn on the computer. Thanks for your input.

If your willing to drive a few hours south to New Braunfels I would highly recommend Cory at Henderson Performance Technologies. I just got my '93 Dyno Tuned. He's a great personable guy with no ego and took his time (4 hrs) to tune.

450HP is doable but, it will take some work and $$ to achieve. I have a More Performance 396 LT1 with lot's of other mod's and mine achieved 381HP@5200 / 417TQ@3200. Cory found some issues so I think 400+ is possible.

1) 52mm TB was delivering enough air so I need to upgrade to a 58mm TB.
2) My injectors are the older large style 'red top' EV1 Ford SVO 30lb style which may cause some fuel delivery issues. So I'm going to swap them out for some updated 'red thin body' EV6 style Ford SVO 30lb.
3) I may have a secondary ignition issue. I know I have two wires that are a little crispy on the outside from touching the headedrs. Also I had my NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .045. He recommended .040 with my compression (10.75:1).

There are plenty of performance places in DFW that can work with LT1 and LS engine tunes.

The problem is finding one that can work with an LT4. A&S Automotive in Keller, Texas
did mine and from what I've heard he may be the only one with the LT4Edit programing capabilities around here. If I'm wrong I'd like to know if there are other options as well!!!

I don't have his number handy but you can call Corvettes of Dallas and get all of A&S's contact info from Jeff. When he had an LT4 he had it done at A&S as well. FWIW, COD doesn't even do LT4s. There just isn't enough of them around for a tuner to spend the money on the LT4Edit software and get practice with it. The tuning money is in the LS engines now....

I thought 400 HP doable with just a head swap, headers, injectors and throttle body upgrade. Spending big $$$$ to get a 396 and the effort to make the change out, IMHO, I think I would be disappointed with the 381 ponies. I hope you have better luck with adding horsepower with the other mods.

This is CORRECT and the guys at A&S do a very good job at tuning. We will gladly handle the build if it makes it easier for you and we can even coordinate the tune if you would like. What ever we can do -- we will do.

Todd...
Much appreciated. At this point, I am looking for sources that I can look to for advice and council with my LT4 short block build and of course, you guys are "the go to people" in the DFW area when it comes to Corvette. I am hoping to avoid a stupid mistakes while enjoying the wrenching process. No pun intended.

Call Scott at A & S. He tuned my 396 LT-4 as well as a few others that I know. Really good guy.
