I have a 1990 Corvette which shows the inflatable restraint light in the read out panel and the seat belt light (symbol ) is on , nothing has been done electrically to activate this , its just come on . How do I go about fixing this issue . Would greatly appreciate some help here .. Thanks
This is a common problem with 1990's. The mounting point for the sensors on the frame rail corrode causing a poor ground and the light to trip. There are left and right sensors which could cause this problem. On my car it was the left (Code 16) and on a friends car that had the light on it was the right( Code 26).
To get the codes you have to connect terminal A to K on the computer connection.
The airbag light will flash a series on long and short pulses.
Determine which side...clean the sensors (only after you have disconnected the battery and waited at least 10 -15 mins).
