Default Temp Gauge Transmission

Can anybody tell me the best place to install a temp Gauge on the 700r4?

Does the top cooler line go to, or return from the Trans cooler?

Any thoughts on what size Trans Cooler needed if I don't run Fluid through the Radiator?

Thanks
Joe

The top line at the trans is the return from the trans cooler.

I had a sensor in the pan for awhile. Check clearances carefully.

Since the rebuild I have the sensor in the case, drivers side. One of the ports there.

Even the largest cooler is going to have trouble cooling with no airflow. I've found without the radiator it only runs 2-3° cooler but spikes real hot in a traffic jam. Use a fan!

As Andrew mentions, there is an inspection port on the driver's side.
It just has a plug threaded into it.
You can use that location as it has the correct thread pitch for the temp sender.

btw, nice interior Andrew. Love the black widow colors.

Thank You
My temp sensor is 3/8 pipe thread I will check it out.
I was thinking of using my Engine oil Temp gauge for the trans or maybe even installing a 2 way toggle switch to go between trans and Engine oil temp.

The port on the Drivers side is that the 1/8" Pipe plug?

As stated above I was going to use a 3/8" pipe Engine oil Temp Sender I wonder if the smaller one would work on the Factory Oil Temp Gauge?
