Default LT-1 problems

A friend of mine drives '92 LT1 and he has some problems.
Engine starts normally when cold and when it warms up, it
starts to missfire until it completely stalls.

He told me that spark plgs and wires are new. What could be
the problem? Opti-spark?

Is he getting any codes?

No codes - probably the ICM and/or the coil. Happened to me!
If he replaces the ICM, don't forget the thernal paste!

Codes - trouble shoot the codes first. Could be the opti, could be a sensor.

I'd check the ignition control module first. Easy to get to and a lot cheaper than an Opti.

Thanks guys. I'll tell him to check for the codes first, and go from there.

Check the coil and ignition control module (ICM). My coil went ****-up on me and took my ICM with it, resulting in an immediate crank, no-start condition.

Replaced both and it fired right up and ran like new money.

My first thought would be the ICM. It does not sound like an typical opti problem. But I would also not forget about a possible ECM problem.
They do cause some unusual problems.
