Default RE: To Low

Everybody wants to get lower to the ground. Well I think my 86 is to low. I can't do any speed bumps and most drive ways scrape. How do I get maybe one or two inches up the easy way?

Speed bumps a problem? Try the "dirty south" look by going with taller rims & tires

Pictures will help. Raising it is easy in rear, a little more difficult up front.

Stock suspension on my 87 coupe and I kept scraping the front air-dam on speed bumps. I thought the mono-spring had collapsed. I had receipts for the shocks from the guy I bought the car from. The shocks were aftermarket no-name brand and had about 8k miles on them. I removed the shocks and found one completely broken and the other could compressed by hand. After replacing with quality brand-name shocks the front suspension return to normal ride height and I dont scrape my air-dam anymore. Might be something worth checking.

If you still have 16" wheels, you could go to a 255/55R16 tire which is about 27" tall.

There is a General Grabber UHP available in that size. I know its a street/sport truck tire, but at least is gives you an easy option to raise it up a bit.

I'm considering the same tire in a 255/50R17 for myself next time around.

The shocks are new. The tires could go for this summer and then new ones. I was thinking something could be done to the springs or in that area.
