Air Pump Removal ??
I got a 85 Vette that has a whining air pump.
No emission testing in Montana so I'd like to remove the whole system.
Anything tricky to this removal process????

I removed my exhaust unit today so I had to remove the air pump's lines to the catalytic converter. On my 84 there are two clamps beside the right exhaust manifold that you have to take off to get the rubber hose loose from the metal fitting that goes underneath the car. Theres also a clamp underneath those two that is somewhat welded to the frame that you take loose and lift up to get it off the welded on "holster." There are a few nuts that you take loose on the exhaust that runs back to the catalytic converter that you loosen to slide it off. And finally, the metal line runs into the converter. I did not take the pump off the belts but I am sure that is pretty straightforward, 2 bolts and a pulley is my guess.

Sure - it helps heat up your O2 so it gets to Closed Loop which then feeds it the mix it was designed for under all conditions (except WOT). You can re-engineer that with a heated O2. Just hack into an ignition feed somewhere in the harness, put a couple of pipe plugs where the checkvalves are now, and plug off the vacuum feed so you don't have one of those pesky little vacuum leaks.
