What is the targa top made out of on a 96? Is it glass or Lexan or what? The star on the inside of the bolt stripped out and now I need some ideas on getting it out. Thanks in advance for the info.
Its a tough one...Sears sells a Stripped screw removal tool you may want to try. I think it goes for 20 bucks. Sears.com ..................................

If you can find a tap and die set you could tread a left hand bolt into the opening. If you can't find a left handed one, maybe you could put a bolt in with right hand threads but use a loctite, or jb weld to hold it in place while you remove it. Last idea would be to grind off the head or drill it out. A dremel tool would probably do it.
Good luck
If you remove the entire plastic molding piece lining the top of the windshield (where the visors mount)- the screw is behind, you probably could get a better shot at it... Maybe even with some vice grips.

Front or back? I think on the back you can pull the whole bracke by removing the bolts on either side.
