Distress flares.

Come to think of it, carrying a flare or two may not be a bad idea.

If I had an lt1 - I would carry a spare opti
for road trips my arsenal includes:
a jump box(hot shot) built in air pump and light
a compact set of jumper cables
a can of fix a flat
the tools needed for a battery r&r
I prefer gear ratchet 1/4" 3/8" socket set
1/2" breaker bar or large ratchet and lug socket
duct tape, electrical tape, an assortment of sta-cons, a few wire nuts, cutters/strippers, wire ties, mechanics wire, assortment of fuses, test light and a cheap multimeter
4-1 screwdriver, long reach skinny Philips for interior screws
a couple tooth brush sized wire brushes, a leatherman/gerber multi tool/knife, and a couple plug wires in case a header toasts one

I almost always keep the screw driver handy on a road trip, interior screws on these things like to loosen up, have fixed many a rattle on the fly - some times find a screw or 2 in the carpeted areas the next day also.

A credit card, AAA, and hope for a great trip. But I do keep a small tool kit with sockets sized for stuff that could go, like for the battery.

A cell phone with forum members numbers stored in it

In all honesty it would depend on what I had recently fixed on my car. I used to carry a spare water pump for my LT1. Believe it or not I changed it in 2 different parking lots. I alway throw a little tool box together and put it in my car but since I got the C5 the tool box has gotten smaller.

Oh Boy, if my opti was in the "shakey jake" phase, I'd not go anywhere pass 10-20 minutes from home.

A good shape opti would be the least of our worries.

Lets see I once went on a 1500 mile round trip in an 88 I had.
I took a toolkit with me and never used it.

Trip to the beach - just the beach stuff, no tools, no parts, just a cell phone and credit card.

Pre-trip preparation is the key!

We are leaving next week for CI-X and Nashville. AAA and credit card. Our Vette has been dependable since we got it 2 years ago. I am not going to worry about it. A lot of preventive maintenance helps me sleep.

Good thread! I got a 3,000 mile roundtrip coming up soon. Better check my AAA membership! My tires are pretty worn, but I don't have $$$ to replace them

Is this to create a shorted electrical path to ground? I'm confused here.

Having just done some repairs to get my '93 "Ruby", running I now have a new Dynaspark, ignition module and coil I would take with me along with the FSM and my computer to get on Forums to ask some pro's concerning any problems. I am taking a short 300 mile trip north in June to a concert and check my mileage. That is what I bought the car for! Shooting for 30 plus on the highway. Will take small tent and sleeping bag and small tool kit.

I drive my 93 on alot of 6hr. road trips. It's #%$&$%# awsom, lay back and injoy.Passing others at will, racing a few. Imports are fun ,they are quick of the line but dont have the top end or stamina.I was playing with a nissan 300nx or zx whatever those sewing machine powerd cars are,he was turbo charged so he took me off the start but didnt have the top end or he chickened out.I was doing 152mph and steadily walking away from him.WE raced on and off for about half an hour , gave me an exuse to open her up and see what she had for a top end.HAVE FUN drive safe these cars dont stop worth a shi_ when cruzing at high speed.
