OK, the local machine shop has recommended PRW roller rockers for my stock L98. I told then this is just a light rebuilt with 1.6 rockers and now LT4 springs.
I've not heard of these, anyone know this brand? Good? Bad? Unknown?
He did mention that there have been some problems with Harland Sharpe, he said scorpions are another that they like. He specifically mentioned that the roller tip portion has some type of locking clip that some model don't have and many failures are in that area?
This guys do build engines for 1/2 mile dirt racers in the Georgia area so they have some decent experience.
PRW appears to be the Performance Racing Warehouse "house" brand. Just like Summit, retailers often have parts made for them using their logo.
They look quite a bit like Scorpions to me. You could ask them who they are made by. That would lead to a more solid recommendation.
Yeah they are a "house" brand didn't know that when he said it, but I think they look decent. I'm going to check with him if he has used these on the circle track cars he's done, that too me would be a good endorsement. I may ask him his price on Scorpions as a fall back plan.
The PRW house brand rockers are made by Cal Auto Transpeed (CAT).
OK for low spring pressure and mild cams (and I have used a few sets as such with no problems) but I wouldn't use them on anything serious. Look at how small the trunion and brgs are.... Made in China.
Scorpion rockers on the other hand I have run on everything. They are one of (if not the) best stud mounted rocker you can buy. Lifetime guarentee and made in the USA.

Good to know, this build is a stock L98 cam and I'm stepping up to the LT4 spring only due to going to a 1.6 RR, so I guess I could go with there PRW's. I think it would be worth a little more for piece of mind to see how much the Scorpions would be, then if I ever get greedy and want a cam I'm set.
Hope recklessdriver will chime in as he has used these???? I do know I need the "narrow" design for these heads. I'm prepared to remove the drip tabs, I think that is a given with the 1.6's

Sorry, I lost track of the thread for a few days.
I've used a few sets of these CAT rockers before but never tried to fit them inside of the Corvette magnesium rocker covers. They do have a pretty narrow body and IMO should fit inside of the stock magnesium rocker covers but you will definatly have to cut the drip tabs off... Also I know on on the stamped steel B and F body rocker covers you have to trim the back side of the support bracing of the center hold down bolt tubes for clearance on the trunion.
Who are you buying these from in Atlanta? I know a number of engine builders and machine shops in the area.

Thanks for the added information. I'm working with D&A in Canton, they do build engines for some of the guys who are racing at Dixie Speedway, local 1/2 mile dirt track stuff. They are GM certified to rebuild and seal race engines. They have told me since then that are using these PRW rockers currently on several motors racing out there and thus far no issues. These engines are spinning about 7200 with far more lift than I will run.
hijacking of thread, are these summits rebadged comp cams? Or are they Chinese junk?
Some one private labels them for Summit but I don't know for sure who the manufacture is. They are definatly NOT Comp's rockers thou, the body and trunion is completely different.
Plenty of folks are running them and with the mild spring pressure on most Hyd roller cams I don't think you would have any problems.... However I'd like to add for the money those Summit rockers cost you can buy a set of Scorpion rockers.

I think they still are scorpion, but I will verify, I have a 20 buck off coupon that makes the summit price pretty good. I would run lt4 springs, so it is light duty, I just want to reduce friction.
