I have a '96 Collectors Edition that I'm considering putting in a Hot Cam. My ubder standing is thhat for $2500 there will not be much of a gain over the stock cam with it's existing roller set-up. Some claimed only about 25hp. Since I really only wanted the effect along with headers has anyone others thoughts and expeience on this matter. Thank you in advance.

That's why I went with a custom cam. Installed it myself to save money too.

It was stolen in 1998, chased by police, involved in minor accident while being chased. Owners wife wanted it red. Entire car was stripped of all glass parts and painted Torch Red. So I guess I have one of the only Collector item Red Corvettes. Serial no. upon request. BTW, its is other wise totally original with @ 44,000 miles although I just added new wheels.

Where did you get $2500 for a Hot Cam? The whole kit costs around $250 including rockers and springs, and it's easy enough to install yourself. Budget another $150 for various gaskets and other things you'll want to replace anyway, and you've got $400. Can't think of any other expenses....definitely not another $2100 worth.
you are thinking of the lt4 head hot cam conversion the ce should already have the heads and intake all you need is the cam.Good upgrade if you want good idle and no problems.

I did my own labor and it still wasnt cheap. It was close to 2k if not more. I had to purchase some tools along the way. I went with the best parts too. Then there was the parts broken in the process with over night shipping. That can get expensive. The trip to the emergency room wasnt cheap either.
There's a bunch of things you may want to replace while you are there also. I did the Opti, Timing chain, EWP, all gaskets, valve train, etc, etc..
The car already has hyd rockers and I only need to purchase the cam which is very reasonable. I understand that the labor is around $1600+ and then all of the gaskets. I just had a new water pump installed and had a new opti installed while it was out in the open. Is it really worth the cost without doing headers?
Thank you fellows. And, it really is a Collectors Edition.
I have a Hotcam waiting to be installed when my engine goes back together - I figured there's no better time, since the engine will be all apart anyway.
