Going to replace the water pump. Looking at Ecklers and they want $300.00 for a OEM. Looking other places I find from $200.00 to $40.00 or so. I would like to stay OEM but $300.00 for a pumps seems a bit high. What to do? rec's welcomed.
Get a rebuilt stock replacement with a warranty from your local auto parts store. I have a rebuilt unit from Advance Auto in my '89 that I replaced the original pump with at 113K and it's still going strong at 234K.
The Ecklers unit is a stock replacement pump and only necessary if you intend to keep your Vette completely stock. (If you want a top of the line water pump, I would recommend Edelbrock's aluminum unit for around $189-$159 depending upon where you buy it.)

Hope this helps!
My last H20 pump from Advanced ran for over 90K.....I'm rebuilding the enigne so I just to replace it while I have easy access to it.
I just bought a totally "new" H20 pump from Advanced for my '89 yesterday for ~$40. Got to the store and the guy @ Advanced said they don't want a "old" unit/core any more and they won't charge a core charge for the one......even though it says so on the website.
