Default IAT snesor... need help!

Hey guys... can someone help me out. My "Service Engine Soon" light comes on when I sitting at idle(code 23 Inlet Air Temp). The SES light turns off about 30-45 seconds after the car is moving .
I recently installed a mini ram on my 85vette, and a got a mail order tune from Fast Chips after the install. On the old TPI plenum the IAT sensor mounted on the bottom rear of the plenum, but the mini ram doesn't have a mounting port for the IAT. So I relocated it to the air filter housing just before it coneects to the MAF. Did I mount it in the wrong location? If so... is there another location it should be mounted?

IAT sensor resistance varies w/temp just like the ECT...the ECM doesn't care where it's located at--the ECM makes fuel trim adjustments based on the air temp pasing by it--cooler air a little richer...hotter air a little leaner. The ECM does check for a good circuit. From your pic it does look like I'm seeing "scotch lock" connectors On any low voltage sensor circuit..it's not something I'd suggest...solder the wires and heat shrink tubing That may not be your problem --but very well could be.

yea, u mounted it on the wrong side........now you need a "service loop" in the wire, and some tywraps to secure the wire so it won't be strained in any way.
I agree, your method of connecting a vital engine sensor looks to be u-haul temprary trailer connectors (scotchlok) or (schlok-lock). If you go to an auto parts store, get a kit of crimpers and connectors. Soldering engine harness connectors is no good. The wires are soldered, and the solder wicks up the wires, and creates "stiff" areas in the wire that aren't flexible. These inflexible joints are subject to vibration and manipulation, weather, heat, and other things that eventually work harden the solder, and it breaks off, leaving u stranded. Crimp crimp crimp. only way to go. then once you crimp the wire, pull on it to make sure it has a death grip on the wire.

As far as I know, MAT is only used for EGR control and does nothing else. Sounds like a bad connection or failed sensor.
