Default Porting and Polishing is underway

Pics of my first porting job. I knocked the divider 3" back and went all the way thru the tubes. The divider is now pretty close to SR tubes. I also worked alot of the "floor" or "shortside" of the turn into the runners.

I started with a used Edelbrock intake that was painted black. I removed all the paint and wire brush polished it to a high shine. Because the "color" is different, I'm trying to decide if I should polish the textured result or go back to paint. (Maybe a black background would look better for polished runners, plenum, and valve covers?) I also polished my waterneck and runners.

Pics of valve covers and injectors.

FIC polished their "des 2" injectors for me. I was surprised to find a flow sheet attached -- since these were new units. Nice touch, Jon! I had a 3rd party polish my valve covers (because I hadn't learned to polish yet. Plus, the price was right too.) The breather holes are on the side. (You can see one in the reflection above the left mounting hole.)

Intake gaskets just showed up today. Time to port match everything. (FYI: Mr Gasket 146 set is very close to what I did. This looks like a great set to use for LT runner setups.)

do you have a list of tools that you used to do this?

is it really that hard or is it just labor intensive?

Nice work.

I always wonder why people don' t anodize aluminum engine parts and I still can't think of a good reason as to why not. Lots of colors possible. Maybe the heat kills it.

Nice work. You will see better flow and rpm's if you knock the wall out as far in as you can reach.

nice work Gregg, the injectors were flowed in groups before I picked the set to polish,. Thats why you got a flow data sheet. We feel flow matching injectors new or rebuilt is worth the extra time.
