Default what went wrong?

I was Just on the other corvette forum, and read about a gut that was working on his vette and was setting the timing. he was having trouble with the idle when in drive so he set the park break and got out to play with the distributer. when he gave it too much timing and the car pulled forward and took out his garage door. too funny! but i must say that one time i was doing something like that and after a wile of working i got my camaro running good and forgot it was in drive as well. i reached over and gave the throttle on the carb a fast pull and my car shot forward about two feet and almost took out my fridge.
NOW I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO DO SOMETHING STUPID LIKE THIS, I think it would be great if we all share some times of studidity from the past. I started it, now lets hear some more and laugh a bit.

I must say that i have one more.... I was working on my camaro and was going to take off the intake man. I did this over a few days so the first day i got most of the stuff off along with the carb. as i went i put paper towels in the top of the intake when the carb was off to keep crap out. then when i came back the next day i got the intake off. when i put it on the bench i grabbed the carb and set it on top to keep things together. when i went to put the intake back on i kept the carb on it and put it down. i took all the paper towels out of the heads but forgot to take them out from under the carb!!!!! when i got everything put back together i went to start it up and could not get it to run. i started to pull things back off and looked into the intake and could just see paper towel wrapped around every valve!!!! thats when i got the chance to port the heads because i had to take them out anyway. what fun.

Years ago (late 70s) I read you could increase your oil pressure by adding washers to the spring in the oil pump. So I guessed 3 would work, this was with a complete rebuild. The engine started right up and blew the oil filter and bypass to the floor. After cleaning up the mess in my Father's garage I dropped the pan and took the washers out. It ended with 35# at idle and 45# @ highway speeds. (Back then was 55 mph ) Don't believe everything you read.

I took the carb off my jet boat back in the late 70's when I put the carb back on ,the cable was at half throttle, I didn't know. went to the lake started the boat on the trailer to back it off, and darn near put the boat on top of the car.
