Default Headlight Issue

LH headlight is intermittantly staying up with the lights off. A couple of cycles of the switch & it goes down. The enclosure is very loose when up (with the RH retracted), then tightens up with both up.

Does this sound like the bushing thing?

'90 Coupe, 54,000 miles.

Thanks.

If you hear the motor running and it is not moving then yes, bushings are very likely.

I agree. Sounds like your Delrin bushings have gone ****-up to me.

The symptoms of bad bushings is usually a run on of the motor after the light assembly has reached it's full "open" or "close" position. Your symptom sounds more like a stripped or flat spot on the nylon gear.

Might as well replace both the main gear AND the bushings, then after you get it all cracked open. It's a fairly labor-intensive job, one you DON'T relish doing in another 10 years.

Of course I went to the garage, 4 tries & can't get it to stay up

I'll order the parts & the beer then wait for a SLOW Saturday.

Thanks for the replies.

I wish it was..........Viagra sounds easier than replacing those bushings.
