Harmonic Balancer Fell Off Twice

Thanks for all of the help to everyone as well. I can do the work even if it takes a bit of time. I didn't have the car for 2.5 years so I am just a bit anxious. My problems come in with knowing what parts and why to buy and use, but the disassembly and re-assembly I will be fine with.
I am guessing when I did my opti a few years ago and pulled that hub once and then with it off again for the rebuild didn't help, my stupid self probably put that crappy washer on that bolt too. Still learning.

Should not move one or off by hand.

As for your crank being unkeyed......LTX uses late SBC crank shaft so the crank should be keyed.......hell even the stock cranks are keyed.

The second time I put it on i used a bit longer grade 8 bolt and three washers and they bent too. I am hoping the problem is just a bad hub and using the incorrect washer. If not then its going to have to be a winter project.

I installed an ATI hub with engine in car.
So I don't know if I could get ATI damper onto the hub in car.
I used the allthread and nuts used to install this seal to install hub

However, I thought it needed to go in further so I pulled the engine (I was wrong)

But pulling engine is a snap.

I believe if I were in your position, I'd take the hub to my machinist and have him check it for cracks, abnormal wear etc.....and if it checked out satisfactorily, I'd pull the engine since something else would have to be wrong.
I am certain that if I was in your situation, the only way I'd install stock hub without pulling engine and checking things out is if my machinist cut a key way in it to help lock it in place......
However, I've experienced what happens when things don't get completely checked out and I've learned that it is cheaper in the long run to check things out even when the pros are telling you everything is fine.......

Edit: Just called TPIS, I think I am just going to have them check it out and get the ATI put in. I am already so deep into this things whats another $800.
