Default Milodon 4-bolt Main

I have a -92 lt1, straight 4-bolt block.

Did some upgrade and bought Milodon main caps, the mains are a littlebit higher than stock, and the bolts that came along with the kit wont fit the windage tray. The stock is to short. It´s a bolt with a kind of a stud on the nut for the tray.

Does anyone know a boltkit that will fit with stock windage tray.

Milodon and ARP had kit´s but can´t find out if they really fit the tray..

Thanks Andreas

Why did you go through the trouble of line boring the block and adding new caps just to put the stock pan back on it?

That factory windage tray is really for the stock pan only. Your going to have to shim it depending on which crank and rods you have and as your found out, aftermarket main caps don't work very well either. Your engine is much better off running a better pan that has a built in full length windage tray.

I used a Champ on this engine (which I built for a forum member here). Its a good pan and didn't cost a bunch. Pics are about half way down the page.

Milodon makes a main cap stud kit that accomodates mounting a windage tray, part number 81150.

Milodon 81148 studs can be purchased individually (you'll need three) to accomodate the factory windage tray. You don't mention what your rotating assembly is, but if it's a stroker you'll still have to massage the ribs on the factory windage tray to clear the rod bolts.
Take a look at this post in my thread for examples.

Here's a link to studs a Summit, and FYI they're packaged as Milodon but once you open them up you'll find they are actually ARP (the nuts have ARP stamped into them.

"Why did you go through the trouble of line boring the block and adding new caps just to put the stock pan back on it?" I changed because one of the stock was broken.

It´s a 3.75 crank with 6" rods. The tray is rebuilt to get clearens some years ago also the new mains are higher so the clearens is good.

Okey, wondering if I maybe should upgrade to 12-point hex on all mains.
What Milodon kit is it for that? 81131?

I also need another bolt for the oil-pump, or just washers to get the tray into right position.

Thanks Andreas

I've used two bolt main stud kits in the past; the windage tray end of the stud is treaded over a considerable portion of its length, allowing considerable latitude in setting the windage tray height relative to the rotating crank and rods; I don't foresee any difficulties.

You might want to investigate use of a Milodon "Diamond Stripper" windage tray in lieu of the factory tray (which basically bounces the oil flying off the crankshaft up, back into the crank).

Good luck.
