Well, talking to some friends, they think I should be able to pick up the wreck for less than 3k at the auction. If that's the case, i'll buy it back. I'm certain the guys buying the wreck aren't going to realize it's 400+ HP under the hood. Hopefully the won't notice the headers, coil overs, etc. So hopefully I can show up with the cash and start bidding.
Yes, I am looking forward to seeing how the green lizard takes care of me. They stole me from Progressive who treated decently but their prices climbed consistently over my 12 years with them. Here's to hoping I didn't make a mistake. KBB and NADA both rate a stock CE in excellent condition at 16k-25K. My fingers are crossed.
I'll know today and i'll keep you posted. I guess i'm going to start looking for an older Z06 and start all over again. That hurts. 469hp to 405hp, YOUCH! Really makes me want to cry. My first corvette that I hoped to own forever has died.
On another note, I think I need to get a paternity test done. My nearly driving age daughter asked if we can get a mustang now. Geez, the day just keeps getting worse.
My 9 month old Chevy Silverado got T-boned by someone driving illegally up the shoulder in a Chevy Avalanche last May. I thought I was OK, but 2 months later I still have a headache every single day that the doctor and physical therapist can't seem to figure out.
Get yourself checked out by a good doctor, even if you feel fine today.

I was also in a wreck with my 84 vette back in January.. Was only going about 35-40mph, when a pick em up truck pulled out in front of me.. He said he didn't see me but my car was nearly totaled.. Long story short they hauled me away in a ambulance with 3 cracked ribs and a concusion... Obviousley my car didn't have airbags and I wasn't wearing my seat belt... Got out a few days later, and decided to go and hang out with the boys and ended up having seziures from my concusion... Be very careful and be SURE your ok... A car is replacable YOUR NOT....

I got full body scan and ct yesterday. We'll see how it goes. I'm not signing off on anything but the car until i'm sure i'm golden.
I would definetly pull some perts off your car tho, Even if you have to replace them with junk .. I would jump right on that, I had a car totaled once & the insurance company waisted no time to come pick it up....
I don't know what I would do if I lost me vette, I love this 84 I have..
Okay, I just spoke with Geico, they are going total the vette. They haven't given me a figure yet. They told me they absolutely could not sell me the wreck. If I wanted it I would have to go to the auction and buy it. That blows.
You will need a salvage/rebuilder license to buy it from the auction.
Okay, so after my $250 deductible, GEICO gave me $17,514 for the car. I'm happy with that figure. I was hoping to sell it for $14k so that works for me.
Their first offer was 16k which I would have taken, but because of your advice here, I asked for 19k. We met in the middle.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully before the first of the year, I'll be in the market to start all over with a C5

PRICELESS!!
Heck of an ordeal, glad you made it through it all.

I am shocked. I would have thought, at best, the insurance company would have balked at even half this amount. Not saying the car wasn't worth it, just we all know how insurance comapnies can be.
