Default Vacuum fitting under TB???

What exactly does that vacuum fitting do? What does it connect to? On my '86 there was a sensor attached to the back water neck bolt that this vacuum connected to. There was another vacuum fitting going to the 'bowl' thing directly under the plenum. What is that vacuum for?

Sheesh, I feel stupid right about now.....

If this is what you are talking about it goes to the gas vapor charcoal canister, hooks up by the check valve in the picture.

That's it, but it connects to a sensor under the plenum which is also connected to the 'bowl' looking thing in the center of the intake. Hmm....

I'll see if I can find a digi cam and post pics ASAP.

Thanks.

If its in the center of your intake its your egr valve(bowl looking thing). The switch you are talking about would be your egr control solenoid. You should have one vac. line that goes to the solenoid and from the solenoid you should have another one that goes to the egr valve. I can take a pic of mine if you need me to just ask.

Here is what I got.

This is the bowl thing.

This is the sensor thing.

The sensor thing has a vacuum tube going to the bottom of the TB and the bowl. Im confused. The sensor was attached to the block via the rear water neck bolt. It is currently not 'mounted' to the car as I've got the water neck off.

The bowl thing is your fuel pressure regulator, and the sensor thing is your EGR switching relay. It is usually bolted down at the left rear of your manifold.

I just did this on my '86 (changed thermostat) one hose goes to EGR, one hose goes to vacuum source, both are connected to the EGR solinoid, which is held down by the rear thermostat housing bolt. I think they added the Tee in '87 or so.By the way the thin nylon hose broke on mine, PEP Boys was the only one around who stocked it.

Mine broke too. I just went to Pep Boys and got vacuum hosing and made the necessary connections using just the hose.

**stupid front water neck bolt SNAPPED. Tried a bolt extractor, Vise Grips, BAFH, nada.....Im waiting on a manifold from CA to arrive to replace the mainfold**

If my EGR valve is plugged off, do I still need to connect this egr selinoid to anything?
