For a couple of weeks ago me and a friend was out logging my Lt1 for a new chip i was working on. My friend punched out at WOT while i was reading the values, and when we slowed down to turn around i heard a terrible noise from the engine, it was a loud irregular noise who did´nt follow the rpm. And then it suddenly stopped, we went back to my garage and i started tearing the easy parts up ( Valve covers, spark plugs ) and checked. Did a compression check to see that i did´nt trash a piston or so, But nothing!! Mounted the parts back and fired it up! The car ran nice and no bad sounds. I have driven the car since then with no problems. Today i went to clean the air filter and stripped it down in the garage.. Then i saw it, one of the screws holding one of the plates inside the TB was missing!! GAAAH, no wonder why i it made such a teriible noise!! Hopefully the screw flew out the exhaust, otherwise its probably punched in the piston or the head.. I was planning to tear it down this winter. Hopefully it works until then. The BBK Tb was bought brand new, and have´nt been on the car for so long.. Piece of s*it quality i say. Talk about loosing money! Just a warning for you who uses those BBK TB´s. I´ll post some pictures for you when i tear it down.
Well, the stock TB has proven to be a restriction when higher HP is the goal.
i haven't had any direct experience with Arizona Speed and Marine, but they do offer the mono-blade TB for the L-98 and LT-x... maybe they are a better aftermarket solution?
You could probably go after them for compensation..if it really fked up your engine.
Yes i will try to do that. Problem is that i live in Sweden and i think they don´t care that much about this incident. But i will tear the engine down and post some pictures later on.
i don't typically hear bad news about BBK throttle bodies?
I would be interested in seeing the pictures.
No me neither. I have been running BBK´s on earlier car i´ve had. No problems. But this time it did´nt work as good as it used to. Yes i will post pictures later on when i tear it down. This could be a good reason to get a hotter top end for it sad about the head though. I would think it made some nice scars before it flew out/got stuck.
No i have´nt had any problems before either. Guess that sometimes you get parts that maybe been built on a bad day :/ guess my TB was one of them. But to be sure, maybe you should try tighten your plate screws if you do some work on the car sometime. Just to be sure =)
I´ll post the pictures as soon as i tear the engine down.
