The intake, runners & plenum were just raw aluminum from factory I don't believe they had any coatings on them. That paint sould work for everything if you want it all the same color.

the valve covers desperately need a repaint, and the base could definitely use a fresh shot of paint.
I used duplicolor aluminum engine enamel on the valve covers.I let it dry for a few hours then clearcoat with duplicolor clearcoat.
I sanded the runners and plenum with 180, 280, then 400 to get them smooth. Otherwise IMO they will not look great painted.
The clear coat changes the color of what ever paint you use so test it before you paint it.
Belive it or not the runners and plenum were fake chrome.I clearcoated them while still wet and the color changed to a nice med metalic silver.

Is that color close to the original satin or whatever it is?
I bought the valve cover paint from Eckler's a few years back. This spring, I used Rustoleum high-heat silver. I like the color of the rustoleum better.
Not meaning to spoil anything, because you did a great job on those and they look great but don't get anything like gasoline on any of that or it will take the paint off. I painted a motorcycle gas tank using dupli-color and their clear and the first time I gassed it up I got a little on the tank. It took the clear and the paint right off. A better choice, and what I subsequently used was PPG quik clear. This has been 3 or 4 years ago and I don't know if it's still available, but it probably is. You can use dupli-color and quik clear without any problems but you have to own a spray gun and compressor. I hope this will be of some help.

I used engine enamel.. I had a vacuum leak and the intake caught fire while I was spraying carb cleaner. The paint held up! So you must have done something wrong or there was a problem with the prep work.

Yeah, that Rustoleum high temp silver gives it a raw cast look. I'm using that on my valve covers.
I painted the top alternator bracket and distributor cover with Rustoleum 500 degree aluminum. That is the best match to the stock plenum and runners as I'm not taking those off to paint. I had to paint the others cause when I had them off and cleaned them, the color turned real dark on them.
lol .. I had my fire extinguiser ready..
I always laugh whe I hear "spray carb cleaner on the intake"
they forget to warn them about the ...FIRE!!!
I think the key is use hight temp paint and prep the parts.
