Okay here goes. 90 auto. Changed injectors and had an oring spilt. Little fire when the gas ran down the back. Got it out. Now the bad. Some wires cooked. No biggie. Re-wired and things ran okay but car stumbled and spit and sputtered at wide open throttle and higher rpms.
To add to it, the car failed emissions.
I opened the distributor up and the plastic housings for the wiring were all brittle and broken. Tried to clean up the mess and afterwards no start.
Got a new distributor from O'Rielly's. Installed with a new cap, rotor, and coil. Coil is recievign power, but no crank. Not even a little try at it. Engine just turns over.
The wire harness that goes from the 4 pin plug for the ECM to the modual is one of the ones that came apart. I am not sure of the sequence for the wires to the modual. And getting another harness/pigtail takes about 5-7 days for my local Chevy dealership to get. The other parts houses can't get it.
Suggestions? Is this why I can not get spark and crank? Wiring order?

Battery undercharged / flat
Bad connections /ground between battery and starter.
If your battery is low when cranking it wil take all the power leaving nothing for the spark as well as engine not spining fast enough tp catch
If the wires are mixed up on the ignition module because they were baked and missing insulation then wait for the new pig tail harness to arrive before trouble shooting it further....the ignition miss wire situation could cause your no start condition. Glad to hear the fire was controlable.
I believe, the fuel pump gets a signal through the wires to the distributor as well, so if there is an intermittent connection, the fuel pump could be cutting out.
Correct me if I am wrong, I have not messed with mine for quite some time.

Memorized those when I was like 12 (looooong time ago LOL)
Did you get the ignition module tested? If I could get my hood open I would go out tonight and get you some pictures. If nothing is posted to help you by this weekend then I will get that darn hood open and get those pictures for you.
