oil temp says zero

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post to this forum. In the past I have been able to search and find my answer but I can't find much info on this problem.

Our 94 LT1 has both an oil temperature gauge and the digital oil temp reading. Both say the temp is zero. I am wondering, is it the sensor or sender that needs to be replaced? Or both???

I appreciate any advice anyone has.

The oil temp sensor is just above the oil filter on the block. Check to make sure it is getting a good connection.

Mine had the same problem when I bought it... sensor came off in two pieces. I'd start there.
