Hey guys, I bought this lifetime alignment from Firestone for about $150. It is good for the rest of your ownership of your car. Do they realize how often I will be in there for a balance???
I could not pass up on that deal....got the whole package when i mounted my new wheels/tires about 2 yrs ago...(Lifetime Balance/Rotation) and (Lifetime Alignment)
Yes, my 90 convertable with automatic trans and vin code 8 engine vibrates. A better description would be the car shudders when
lightly accellerating from speeds from around 35 to 45mph.
The shudder feels like the engine and trans are hopping up and down. Can be avoided by accellerating a little harder.
Don't have a fix. Would like to know how to solve this one. Any ideas?
Neither the '86 with 128,000+ or the '96 with 55,000+ vibrate. I've had both cars up 120+ (on the track). I replaced the entire front end on the '86 last winter due to wear. The ball joints, tie rods and bushings were all starting to go. Considering how worn the parts were, I was surprised it didn't vibrate.
I hope to get my balanced drive shaft re-installed this evening if all goes well. The flu is leaving me slowly and I am feeling better. Hope the drive shaft changes something, even if it doesn't fix it, if it changes the characteristics, I would be encouraged.

Re: Does yours vibrate (thedevl)
I'm sure this has been said already, but check your ujoints. Mine started vibrating in the fall and got progressively worse. I just had my ujoints changed (one of them was clicking, but I went ahead and had all 4 on the half-shafts replaced) and it solved the problem completely.
If you click on the link below, it will take you to a thread where you will see what all has been done. This has been an exhaustive effort. Everything anyone could think of has been tried, except for rear end gears.
Balanced drive shaft went in last night. Need to bleed brakes from doing brake job on all four corvers while I have the car down for u-joints all around, wheel bearings and DS balance. Will test tonight.
It is fixed. The balanced, straightened driveshaft with the new u-joints fixed the problem. The shaft was warped and bad out of balance and the u-joints felt a little notchy. My corvette no longer vibrates at 75MPH. Too cool.
yes my LT1 vibrates at about 70-78 mph but its only there for about 1-2/10's of a second and then its smooth as babies butt.. and feels alot like gliding at 150+ :D good luck.. i believe my issue to be in wheel balancing.. i have found that as ugly as the outside balance weight are.. they usually do a better job.. but i will accept the vibration and stick to my stickon inside the rim weight to preserve my A-molds appearance!!
