I stayed with the stock GM lifters in the recent cam and heads swap I did.
A guy on another Forum just did a cam swap and ended up with much lower oil pressure using CompCams lifters. He's still trying to figure out what caused it, but all he changed was the cam, lifters and pushrods. I suspect the lifters.
A couple of guys recently posted that their Pro Mag RRs self destructed. Posts are complete with photos. One had the roller tip come off and the other had the trunnion break and the roller bearings fell inside the engine. Just for your info.

GM part# 12499225 is the one I've seem posted most often. They are about $75-$100 less than other replacement hydraulic roller lifters for our cars. IIRC, they are for LSx and L98 cars. They may have a different height but it won't matter if you're measuring for new push-rods anyway.
Jake, I'd like to see/hear where the posts are about failed ProMag RR's. I've not heard of that and I'm planning on purchasing them this week. It's my understanding that they are about the strongest roller rocker out there. What rpms where they being run? Was valve trane geometry correct? etc... etc...
replaced cam in my 96 lt4 with an lt4 "hot cam"; used gm "second generation lifters" pn 17120735 factory installed in late model 350 HO engines; got entire kit including new lifters , lifter guides, and lifter retainer (aka spider) in kit pn 12371042, from the dealer, for $297.

West Point ROCKS!

That is interesting. Judging by the internet, I thought I was the only person in the entire world who had a set of Comps Stainless Rockers go to crap in short order.
To the OP-
As for the best hyd roller lifters for the money... I'd recommend you do what Jake did. If the 16 lifters in your current engine are not damaged, I'd re use them. Nothing is gonna be a better deal than free.
If you feel like you have to buy new, the GM LS7 lifters are pretty good and less than $150.00 from anyone.
To the rest of you throwing around the "GOOD TO 7000RPM" comments... What X lifter will turn (RPM wise), on X cam lobe, with X valve springs, X weight retainers/locks, X brand rocker arm that is X ratio, and X diam/length/weight pushrods all on top of it.... may or may NOT be 7000RPM.
