Default Meet the dumbass

Did you hear the one about;
While chasing a cranking no injector pulse problem , decided to check TPS V. Low TPS at WOT.
No problem, grab another TB off the shelf, plug it in; 4.5V.
Swap over TPS, check with scanner , still low
Check throttle travel and find some dumby (me) in haste to get car running late at night before track day has positioned the hose clamp on TB bellows so it acts as a very efficent throttle stop at 3/4 travel. Been like that for at least 6 months.
Problem went unnoticed because 1st time out was with new 383 engine , 2nd time was with new convertor so no benchmark to judge by. Also both times distracted by spark problem with small cap dist / remote coil setup needed with HSR.
12.2 on 3/4 throttle ; looking forward to next strip outing.

"theory" sez a butterfly valve does most of it's throttling in the last few degrees of closing... that last 1/4 throttle may not gain much...we saw numerous carb throttle plates that opened way beyond 90* while dyno test on snowmobile race engines that lost nothing vs limited to 90*...do tell what the effect is on your 'big end" numbers

For all those that want a governor for when the kids use the vette, see Rod's new product.

110mph But my mph figures alway seem low compared to others running similar ET's.
Back to back test; only change was 3k stall.
383 HSR 2K ;12.309 / 108mph.1.750
with 3K 12.289 /110mph. 1.740
But had above mentioned spark problem with 3K stall runs.
6500 1st , 5500 2nd, struggled to make 4500 in top because coil was breaking down.
Optimistic because I picked up .1 in the 330 and nearly the same at 660 before engine flatlined but still ran best ever mph

I'd look at it as an automatic break-in assist device.

Now you're ready to rock.

its looks like you are hooking out of the hole.. the 110 isn't too far off to be honest for that e.t. but you will probably pick up both et and mph without said ignition issues. i don't know what your exact engine setup is aside from whats in your profile but those are decent numbers for a street sbc regardless.
