Default changing D36 center section only?

I have a 93 with the 2.59 gears. I picked up a used 3.07 center section. Can I change the center section while leaving the batwing, spring, etc in the car? Thank you in advance for the help.

It is easier to pull the batwing, only two more bolts and it will be way easier to reseal on the bench.

I was thinking along the same lines before I changed mine last month, and I would have to concur. The batwing goes in and out easily, there's no reason not to pull it all. Plus while it's out you have a chance to do the poly bushings.

Drop it all , don't be afraid of that rear spring as its not near as scary as it first looks.

I've read some posts, an article and I have a FSM. I have changed plenty of 10 / 12 bolt A / F body rears, but this is the first IRS. When looking at the center section I bought, I thought that possibly I could just change it and make quick work of it.

I've done both ways, and it was way faster, and easier to drop the batwing.
