I had to take my dash pad out to get out my failing burnoff module, which was a lot easier than i thought it would have been.
4 Screws and a pull towards me and it slid right out.
Now can the dash pad be re-wrapped? Its all cracked and hard from being baked in the sun for 25 years..or should i just get one of those $100 dash pad covers from one of the vette stores?

used to be a company that restored them, not sure if they are in business anymore. but for a 100 I would just as soon save another 400 and buy a new one. the 3rdgen.org guys have lots of ideas on these pads and how to fix them.
Well I just got one not to long ago on the bay for 200.00, which is very nice & like new.. So you may want to check there first, Sometimes you can get lucky...
The problem with getting material and doing it that is I have never found anything that dosen't reflect back into the windshield. Believe me I have looked, only the after market guys have any thing that works Mid America has both a hard cover and a soft cover for around a $100.00, that is the way to go. I did see a photo of someone that had the carpet cover with a nice C4 logo on it but I cant find one, it looked very nice
I have had my dashcap on for 2 years and its holding up well. No one can even tell its a cap without looking real hard. I believe because its so flat its hard to spot as being a cap unlike a lot of dashes with curves and humps...WW
it did see sun, the better one will be the 400.00 dash pad from a supporting vender. i was not to happy with the fit around the dash speakers. i wiil take more care too!
I've got one and love it. Thought I would try it before dumping $500 on a new one. See pick below. Not the best pic of this in the world but looks factory to me.
I have one, yes it works well. I am sure it isn't as good as a new one but looks much better than one with cracks and splits. I also use one of the carpet thinges. Kinda redneck I admit but it helps in the Florida sun.
i think i'm going to go for the dash cap, i don't really have 400+ dollars for a new one
Is there something that you can put on the dash cap to make it last longer? is it the same material as the stock one?
Mine is made of a soft plastic material and has a lifetime warranty, they even gave me a small tube of silicon to install it with. I put a detailing spray on it, but thats just to make it shine, not to make it last..WW
