Default Burping and packing

Two different procedures.
Burping works, but before or after packing?

I've purged the air half a dozen times on both my and my son's 96 LT1s. Once when changing radiators on m son's, another time when I installed a new 388 CID, again when I changed cam and heads, etc., etc. I simply followed the directions in the Owner's Manual.

Engine OFF; cover the Opti with several layers of rags. I loosened the bleed screw on the thermostat housing then added coolant to the tank near the windshield until coolant FREELY flows from the loosened bleed screw.

I then tighten the bleed screw and top off the tank and top off the over-flow bottle near the headlight. Remove the rags and fire the engine. From that point on the coolant system is self-purging. Always worked without a hitch.

When I had a L98, I used the packing method because the cap was on the radiator and the engine didn't have a bleed screw. On the L98 (350, 355 and later a 415) I did drill the thermostat and plugged the by-pass in the block.

Burping appears to be cracking the radiator cap on a hot engine to release air. The overflow bottle will replace the water as the engine cools.

L98
So we should pack and later burp?

My experience is that if you pack properly, you do not have to burp.

Hey, wait a minute, burp, puke tank and other newer terms are all issues. Now that's a word that's thrown around a lot, issues. What happened to the word, problem.

I want to know how we can make our cars fart. If they burp and puke, well they should be able to pass gas, blow a stinker or rip one loose.

There are fuel additives that will add scents to the exhaust. Some smell like blueberry and others like a skunk passed through.... will that work?

I've heard about the nice smell additives. A friend told me about them and I kinda didn't believe it. I guess there are additives now that you're talking about them too. I didn't know there were stink additives to smell like a skunk out of the exhaust. That's funny.

Next time I smell skunk for about a mile I'm going to wonder about this. And get away from whoevers in front of me, hahaha.

I saw the product at the Summit Store in Sparks,NV. Its in a 4oz bottle that some say will keep on giving for more than one tank of fuel.

The nitro and alch guys run it to sweeten up the pits at the races.

Pretty interesting, although I'd never buy any. I'm still thinking about the stinky skunk additive and think that's just plain funny. I can't imagine who would want to use it, and stink themselves out of their own car and garage.

Since I installed my EWP I quit using the bleeder valves and can get the air out of the cooling system without burping.
However, I haven't been able to stop its farting and it still has an obnoxious exhaust. What kind of guy wants his car's exhaust smell like English Lilacs?
