Default Thread locker on rocker studs ?

Just got my heads back and am ready to start putting the hardware on.

Is it suggested to use thread locker on the rocker arm studs? Perma or not?

Locktight Red?

Blue ?

Help

Thanks

No

Thread sealant keeps the water where its supposed to be.

Thread locker keeps the bolt where its supposed to be.

Just not sure if rocker arm studs require the use of locker or not.

Screw in studs dont have a tendency to pull out or loosen like press in studs. I think you would be safe with the blue.

Default Blue

When I was rebuilding I would use BLUE,, Do not use RED, It takes heat to remove.

If the heads have been ported you'll need thread sealant on the intake studs. The threads can go all the way through to the intake ports and can pull oil in if not sealed.

If ported use sealer. Unported I wouldn't sweat using threadlocker.

I was thinking you read something somewhere and misread locker for sealant.
Sealant is the normal choice and is recommended by GM and most cylinder head manufacturers.

Yep, sealant is what to use. It helps prevent a vacuum leak and/or oil being sucked into the intake ports.

If torqued correctly, studs don't loosen or back out, so no thread llocker is needed.
