Was driving along in my '85 with the cruise control on. The car just started to accelerate. Nothing on the gas, nothing pushing against the accelarater & feet away from the same.
I am a new Vette owner. Never had any other type of care do this. Any one had the same experience, and ideas?
Thanks for the response. I know that the cruise will accelerate & decelerate the car as required. But mine was set at 100kmh, it will start to accelerate & the speedo increase. I tried it a few times with the same result. Yesterday it went as high as 130kmh, I was seeing if it was just as you said, before I shut it off.

Check the vacuum hoses to the cruise control, they could be sucking air.
Ok followed the info in the PDF file, TY very much by the way, very helpful. As far as I can see all the hoses are connected, seem in good shape. I did find the boot over the cable a little worn on the bottom of it and the actual unit under the hood a little loose to its mount. Outside of that, any other Ideas? Like I said. You can drive with the cruise on and no issues, then all of a sudden it just starts to accelerate. Not fast, gradual. Just as if you where setting or resuming the cruise. Accelerates about 1kmh a second when it does that.
Mine was doing this today too. Had the cruise set at 70 mph, all of a sudden the car picked up speed like I was running from the cops. Before I knew it I was going 80 mph.
This sounds like the same problem that I have with my '94. Vacuum lines seem to be OK. Wouldn't you expect deceleration if there was a vacuum leak? I guess that I am thinking that the "accelerate" servo is sticking in the on position - but I do not know how to verify.
