Default Another Nitrous question....

I am getting my bottle filled tomorrow for the first time, and am going to start off with a 50 shot. How safely can I run a 100 shot? I was told by a shop that it is pretty safe, but was wondering if I should stick to a 75 at the most.

You sute be ok with 100 shot but I would say with 50 shot until you learn about the system and then you can step it up, if you go up a little at a time you are much safer, just look at your plugs to make sute it is not running lean.

I would say running a 150shot on a stock motor is fine? I have a 1991 vette and it has 98K miles and I have been running juice for about 3 years on my stock motor and I was going threw 2 10lb bottles a day on Friday’s and Saturday nights. I would just keep a close eye on your spark plugs if they are looking like they are anodized looking then you are running lean if they look new then you are perfect and if they are a little black then you are on the rich side... also warm you bottle up to about 90 degrees get a fish temperature gauge and stick it in the middle of the bottle and so you know you are around 900psi....Now about the timing...I always ran my bottle on full timing because I want to burn all I can and so when the next dose of nitrous comes it is all gone. I have heard retarding it 2-4 degrees is recommended but I looked at the fact...fuel pressure...spark plug setting (rich or lean) and at what RPM you hit it and shut it down at? I would say hit the bottle around 1800rpm so you have fuel and rotation in the motor? At the track I would hit the bottle out of the whole and I could tell my poor motor was taking a beating and I am sure she is mad at me for those runs! Also if your motor is running hot I would not recommend hitting the bottle at that point if your car is running185-210 that is fine obviously if it is 240 degrees....well you know! I just love reading these articles when it comes to nitrous…I had a 305 rs camaro with a 150 shot and there is nothing worse then being beat by a 305 TBI RS Camaro! I have a charger now and I still run nitrous with the blower and the motor is still stock! Have a good one! :p:

I'll have to disagree with Krivera about when to activate the N20. I have heard from everyone I have talked to about nitrous to activate it no earlier than 2500rpms. Also, hitting the button in second gear is always your best bet because you want to have the car in motion before spraying to lessen the strain on the motor. Finally, make sure your plugs are a step colder metal, I use autolite 23s. Goodluck.

My system activates when I am at WOT, so it doesn't get on it until I slam it to the ground.
