I've owned an 89 coupe for 6yrs now. Since day one the ABS light has been on. I went thru the basic tests over the years and have replace some of the relays to no avail. On to current day. I lent my car to someone and when I got it back a few hours later and approx 10 miles later, the light was out. I thought maybe the bulb finally burned out. So I turned the key on and the light came on and approx 5 seconds later it went out. Just like it's supposed to do. This went on for a couple days and I assumed it was fixed (fat chance) The light is now back on full time as before. Any ideas of what to check now, obviousley it worked for those few days. Could this be a connection or ?. Thanks for any ideas as you can tell it's no big thing to me but I would like it to work correctly if I can
Do the easy stuff first:
Clean the tips of the sensor's pick-ups @ each wheel position and while your there ensure that the grooves (on the 1/2 shaft yokes) that reflect the HI/LO for the sensors are free of debris. Visually inspect the wires that attach to the pick-up sensors to ensure they are not broken/damaged. Additionally, check to see that the single wire connector on the master cylinder is still attached and secure.
Post back if you find a problem or still have issues.
