Looks like a great combination. I'd be interested to know how much resonance, if it has any, that this system would have. Keep us posted.

I promised you guys progress pictures.

A tip to anyone who is going to do this project, take the spark plugs off before you attempt to take the exhaust manifolds off.

drivers side, headers off, air pump off, alternator laying to the side, belt off, plugs/wires off

passenger side bent dipstick, air stuff removed

passenger side, A/C portion off, headers off, smog off, belt off, plugs/wires off

dipstick bent halfway down, while removing stock exhaust manifold

stock exhaust manifolds and plugs

of course, dad had to highlight my Polish Hood Lift (stock one doesn't always stay up, yes we've both been hit in the head before), while also showing his badass Z06

Based on Agent 86....we decided to leave the stock starter in place & plan on removing the headers out the top. That meant the AC compressor coming out on passenger side. A couple of things (tricks) learned the hard way on the headers removal....(1) after AC removal, keep AC/tension bracket as loose as possible....you need every mm to lift header out top and (2) you may as well take the dipstick out early going out the top...end up bending it anyway.

Here's a pic of big-little brothers during header removal I think the LS7 is jealous the L98 is getting soooo much attention

Just made this nifty discovery, Hedman makes a Reducer with the O2 Bung already welded on there. This reducer will also take it from 3" from the collector to 2.5" which is what I need for the Pypes System.

Do you guys think $22 is a fair price for this? I have no idea what an exhaust shop would charge to weld one in?

I'm jealous of this father-son project. I have three daughters that couldn't care less about cars. My dad is 81. He's scared to death to sit in my C4.

Calderone - You get those AFRs and Super Ram yet? You're goona love the combination. I almost lost it the other day shifting between 1st and 2nd. I'm still getting used to the power gains.

cumber, super ram and 74219 cam are done,im putting together the money to pay the heads now, tell me more about your combo and what you feel drivin it !!!
does it feel that its "more than you can control" if it feels like that ...its right !!!!
The only thing that secretly torment my crazy mind is that it will be a 355 and not a 383
which its the perfect combo...i cant afford a stroker kit after this head/cam/intake upgrade

Just found your thread. I am installing the identical setup with the hedman and Pypes this tuesday. I am using a lift next door, that should make it easier. This one is a father daughter project and we are about to wrap it up next week.... complete teardown of the car and recolor inside and out. The new Pypes exhaust fit perfectly in the outlets of the lower valance. My only worry is that it will be a bit too obnoxious (loud) for a DD.

My headers have the bung welded into the collector already. I read on Hedmans site that the AC bracket would need modifying. Please let me know how that affects things on your project. I will keep watching.

Before you buy, read member's posts on each company's headers and then make your decision. Alot of headers have fitment issues and require alot of modding of your car and maybe the headers themselves. Sometimes the ease of installing is worth the extra money. Its kinda like buying the extra thick tubes (14 ga) or ceramic coating for durability. Other more pricey headers usually have the fitment issues worked out. As far as Hedman's, I cannot say for the Vette but I have pretty much stuck with them on everything else I have owned with good results.

Anything you can do to prevent rework is worth it in my book. The best gaskets, locking bolts, etc are probly worth it in the long run if you dont want to continually be back under the hood. Its hard enough to do it the first time and worse after the assembly is complete. Choose carefully after research and good luck!

No, just hered from summit. They go from 3" to 2.25", which would make sense if I was going back to the stock exhaust but looks like im going to have to order 2 reducers, one with the O2 bung welded one without.

Swedish?! SWEDISH?! It's Finnish, from the next country, Finland. There's a difference. It's called "border" (No real offence taken, don't worry.) Both the original text (in Finnish!) and the translation is written by me...

2) I haven't had any problems with the gaskets that came with the headers. I've driven ca. 6 000 miles after installation and no sign of loosening bolts. I also did take a day at a raceway with the car.

But the three bolts connecting those flanges after collectors came loose. I had to tighten them several times and on that day at the track I lost two bolts and four nuts. Just thought that the flanges got a little loose, because the exhaust sound got a little louder than normal on the way home. Well, they were more than a little loose...
