Default 1984 ???? Problems

Hi guys my name is Alfonso but everyone calls me Fonzy. I just purchased a 84 with 86,000 miles. It's my first Corvette and it was affordable. I was excited and thought I was getting a good deal. I see now why it was so cheap. When I start the car I have to hold down the gas or it will shut off. Once it gets warmed up I can let go of the gas but the rpm stays around 1400 according to the gauge on the dash and my exhaust manifolds are cherry red. So I shut it off and set the timing, except I didn't know about disconnecting the brown cable by the brake booster, till I read it on the forums. Ok so I disconnected the cable then attempted to turn the car on now it wont turn on for nothing. If I pour gasoline down the ports it turns on then back off again. I'm lost and confused. There is no check engine light on. Any help or direction you can give me is greatly appreciated thanks.

When the exhaust manifolds are glowing, that usually means the engine is running lean.

Default Lean?

How do I fix the lean aspect of the problem? Did I mess something up by trying to adjust the timing and disconnecting the brown cable?

Thanks for responding

Default Fuel

I took off the injectors to try to clean them. I put them back in, now it's worse. I try to start the car and the injector on the driver side nothing comes out, the one on the passenger side just dribbles. Like I said if I pour gas down the throat it starts.

No ck engine light comes on.

I called to see the price on injectors=$140.oo @autozone

fuel pump=$55.oo

What else could it be?

For starters, the injector on the driver's side is either bad or the filter within the injector is plugged. After you sort that out, reset the timing. You didn't damage anything by timing the car without the brown wire disconnected. Good luck.

I just went through something like this with my car. If someone see's I said something wrong please correct it. I'm new. My car only had 4 volts to the fuel pump relay. The guy who had it stuck a small screw connector spade behind the positive battery terminal for 12v power to the relay. It is next to the brake booster held next to the firewall with 2 nuts. Make sure you have 12 v contstant their. Two red wires are on one end and the other side is the power (orange I think)( there are fusable links in the system also) from battery on mine. With the key on, power is transfered by the ECM to the (FP) on fuse panal and then goes to the fuel pump. So with that powered you can check your fuel pressure and have 2 possibilities eliminated. I think it is 9-13 psi. I am gettin a shop service manual for mine. You may want to too.

Don't do anything with your injectors until you speak with Jon at FIC. See sticky at the top of this forum. He is very knowledgeable and trustworthy.

9 ohms is bad. most good injectors check out at 16-17 ohms.
