Hi
if the steering wheel is slightly crocked to the left and the car slightly
floats to the right. which tie rod adjustment do you turn to make it straight?

Bad tires can cause that effect. Check tire pressures, sounds elementary, effect is big.

Get a 4 wheel laser alignment from a shop that know what they are doing. Make sure they know how to work on vetts as well as the rear end for alignment.

First & foremost, have the suspension checked throughly for any looseness.Check condition of tires, that will tell you alot.If tires are good shape & suspension is tight, pay to have a through alignment. This will extend life of tires & suspension parts. My corvette has small amount of "play" in both front lower ball joints & tires are wearing noticably on outside edge of both front tires.I don't drive car much & winter is coming so I will replace most of suspension components in spring.Corvettes are affected more than other automobiles when it comes to loose suspension parts & alignment problems.I may have to replace front tires in spring due to my waiting(cost-about $220).In spring I will make sure car rides, handles as good as it looks. If you adjust yourself you may make steering wheel even more crooked & cause more tire wear & spooky handling.Don't be a redneck,do things correctly!

If you don't want to get the alignment done and just want to play with tie rods, it is all common sense. Put the steering wheel in a straight 12 o'clock position. The tires will now be turned toward the right. Look at the tie rods and figure out how to turn both wheels to the left. Start with a half turn on each side making sure you keep them even. If you turn each side equally, the toe will not change. This will staighten out your steering wheel. You might want to get a toe in-out gauge so at least you can check those specs.

The rear toe and camber also have an effect on the steering wheel position. These items should be checked to align the car.
