Help, I have a 1986 coupe stock car. i recently changed the Distributor cap the coil and the rotor, since then the car wont start and now the coil heats up when i try to start it. I have power going to the cap and i have power going to the relay and the Electronic spark control mod. Could the relay be stuck opened or closed. I have no codes and I'm stuck as to what i should check or replace next.
thanks for the help

How was the car running prior to replacing the parts you mentioned? If it was doing better then it is now. I would double check the install to see if you left off a wire or have a bad connection. You may want to reinstall the old parts as "one at a time" as possible to see if you can track the problem to a specific part. It wouldn't be the first time a bad part was purchased at a parts store.

Was the ground strap from coil, secured to cap with the screw ?
When I lost spark, it was the tach wire. I pinched it between the cap and base, which eventually cut through the insulation and grounded out. Worth a look.
Here is 86 ignition from the FSM, it may help you find your problem.
