Default Steering Wheel Click

I have the dreaded steeing wheel click on my 96 Vert. I have tried tightening and lube to no avail. The click is pronounced and frequent and traced to the U-joint/knuckle on the aluminum steering shaft.

I found the TSBs but have not been able to find the fix. I have searched previous posts but did not learn much. Does anyone know how to fix this? What is involved, parts, etc?

Thanks

Is it the shaft or up in the column by the steering wheel?

I do not believe it is near the steering wheel - I think it is at the knuckle on the aluminum shaft right below the brake master cylinder

That's called an intermediate shaft, and GM doesn't carry them any more.

another common problem with the C4 (along with floppy visors and loose door panels etc.) Mine has been clicking for a long time-I have tried all types of lubrication-nothing helps. You will need to find a used part. It is the knuckle. Good Luck
