Default Does this 'turbo' device help in performance?

Hi,

I was searching eBay for Corvette stuff and came upon this device:

or eBay item #: 370288980127

Do you guys think this will help?

I'm not looking at your link but I'm assuming it's that e-charger garbage or whatever. These things were used in boats and you can buy them for 25 dollars first of all. Secondly, due to the restriction they make when not on is what accounts for the slight gain when they are activated.

Pwnage...what a lame...my Civic will smoke your old 85...lol. You better buy one of those to try and get that old thing movin before you start bashin owners of other cars.

I have yet to see any of these so called performance gimmicks work despite the manufactures claims.
I can't recall where I first read it but more than one person claimed of engine damage when a few blades broke and got into the induction system causing some major engine damage.
There are far better ways to spend your money for added performance but this certainly is not one of them.

You can't get horsepower for free or super cheap. It just doesn't work that way. Real actual horsepower costs something, whether its money, time & effort, etc. Everything worth having is going to cost something.

It's not even driven by an electric motor, the engine sucking the air in powers it. Perpetual motion machines don't work, that was figured out a long time ago. And the ones that are driven by an electric motor are more of a hindrance than a help since they can't spin fast enough to even match the flow of normally aspirated air going in to the engine.

It's like using an electric fan to power a generator that has propeller blades on it. Yes, the generator makes some power, but you use more energy to power the fan than you get from the generator. So it's a losing game.

Save your money for mods that actually do help like cams, roller rockers, exhaust upgrades, etc.

Put one in the exhaust tip and see if the exhaust gasses swirl up better.
It might look like a jet planes exhaust.

Please buy it and give us real world experience or a dyno of before and after.

I would like to see what happens.

Something which is called a turbo, but is not a turbo, should generally be seen as suspect.

Yes it will help!! The loss of the money from your wallet will make the car lighter and therefore faster.....

All of these gimmicks are worthless. Save your money for stuff that really works.
