Default Security Light Won't Shut Off

My 85's security light just recently started staying on rock solid.

When i open the doors, it blinks, when i start the car it goes off, but when the car sits in the driveway it stays on. Its drained the battery twice now. What could cause this?

I would think that the ANTI-THEFT MODULE has malfunctioned...
I had a simular problem with my 84,

It sounds like the alarm is setting, Just not finishing the process..
So I would assume the switches in the doors & hatch are ok,

Wait & see what others have to say.... I could be wrong

This could be the problem. The alarm also goes off if i use the power locks to lock the doors, and close the drivers door. If i lock the doors using the key, it doesn't go off.

are these expensive?

YES, Like almost 350.00 for a new one,

I got a rebuilt one on e-bay for 35 bucks, Changed it like 3 months ago & have not had any other issues with the alarm, Works perfect now...

As far as the alarm going off when you re-open the door from the inside after locking it, it will do that if you're simply unlocking it with the manual lock slider if you first locked it with the switch. You have to also unlock it with the power switch or it will go off when you open it from the inside.

Are your interior lights going out 30 seconds after the doors are shut?

At the front of each door near the inner hinge area, there is a button. Both of these need to be pressed in and working for the Security light to go off. It's basically and on/off switch that completes or breaks the circuit when the door is open or closed.

Have both doors open, and have an assistant on the other door pressing that side in while you do the same. The flashing Security light should go out. If not, one of the two switches is probably bad. If no assistant, do one door at a time with the other closed.

Go try this and report back.

The alarm goes off after I lock it from the inside using the power locks, and closing the door. To turn it off i simply stick the key in the slot and turn it to the open position and it stops.

Yes the interior lights go out 30 seconds after the doors are shut. One more question on that part. When i get in the car, and start it, the interior lights do not shut off until after 30 seconds even after the car is running. In most cars, the interior lights go out once you turn the car on. Is this normal?

I will try that tomorrow and report back.
