is there anyone in the area of Frederick MD that could help me with my car it has been acting up for the last couple of months and it driving me crazzy let me know I would be happy to pay you.
It has alternating voltage I just replaced the alternator and battery the alternator went out on me 2 days ago I just brought it 3 weeks ago
my car is running very ruff I have a tapping noise coming from the drivers side of the engine I'm thinking about taking it apart to look at the lifters but I dont understand putting the vehicle at TDC

Is there anyother way of doing the replacement of lifters and push rods?

Replacing a cam and lifters is a complex job for most. Based on your statement that you don't understand TDC, I would do my homework before jumping in over your head. I don't say this to bust your chops, I just don't want you to under estimate the scope of the work to do it.
You are doing the right thing. Asking for support locally is a good way to get started. A good shop manual diagnostics to determine what the clicking sound is is the first step.
Get the correct scoop on what the actual problem is before you go the that depth of a repair job. Find a trusted source you can rely on. You may not have to go to the depth that you envision you have to.
There are very few things that can damage and alternator when running for a few weeks proving it does work basically correctly. A battery can, but if it is new, lets eliminate that for now. But very possibly many of the rebuilt units don’t hold up and it may have just been your luck to get a defective one. I would start with that assumption and replace under the part store guarantee and take it from there

Hi, I just replied to your message before reading your posting, so if it's not the alternator as you have replaced it already, check the alarm system. You mentioned in other posting a no start dead silence periodically. There is a kill switch if it's going bad or not making full contact it will send wrong signals to the engine and may be causing the voltage changes as well. You mentioned you changed the steering column that's were the kill switch connects to the alarm. Or at worse case senerio, it might be the computer altogether. Best you find a reputable mechanic that knows vett's that can run a full diagnosis, just changing part's can turn something simple to a major problem. Electrical problems are hard to find but can be as simple as a bad, lose or dirty connection. Good Luck
