My power seat on the driver side will not raise the rear of the seat. When it gets near the end or top of the lift it just ratchets and will not lift higher unless I pull up on the seat back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also is there a parts supplier that has power seat parts?
Most people think the gears break that causes the problems. What actually happens is the supports for the gears break causing the assembly to shift and not engage.
The bad news is there are no parts available and trying to repair the nylon plastic parts is next to impossible. But the good news is you can get the whole assemble for about $200 from Ecklers or Mid America.
Check out post 19 of this thread. I have done extensive work on the seats and have a write up with some pictures. There are other threads on the seats if you search for them.
I bit the bullet and replaced the driver's side track on my Ruby a few months ago. Ecklers is running another 15% off special right now (Use Coupon code: BOX) so you'll come out at about $225 with shipping and after refund of the core charge once you return the old one. Not a difficult job to swap out, and if your lumbar pump needs a new diaphragm (a.k.a the rubber glove treatment) that can be done while the seat is out.
Many thanks to pcolt94 and Co-Vette for their VERY helpful information. I ordered a replacement from Ecklers and with the 15% discount it came to $195.45 plus shipping.
Again my sincere thanks. You guys are truly great.....
Has anyone considered manufacturing the gears? I would be willing to prepay for a set.
I received the power seat replacement from Ecklers and proceeded to install the replacement. Well I am sure glad that I had a set of FM/s because getting the rear backrest out would have been very ugly. The total removal took quite a while due to all the electrical connectors that had to be disconnected. A TIP; when removing the rear bolts try to have the seat in the forward position and raised. If the seat is back removing the bolts is VERY time consuming. After connecting all the electrical connectors you should TEST ALL the power seat functions before returning the core to Ecklers. Just in case....
Thanks to all the posts for their help. It was greatly appreciated!
I personally don't have any info on replacement power seat tracks from other GM vehicles. Maybe you could try a local auto salvage yard as they some times have INTER-CHANGE manuals that might be helpful. Also maybe someone else on the forum might have additional information. Good hunting and please post any findings.
