More Power
My 91 vette has good power thru the range but takeoff it won't even spin the tires. I changed the exhast to Corsica and had it all tuned up it only has 60000 miles on it. Changed to a KN filter. It sounds mean. Wondering if any one out there did anthing to there c-4 to give more low end power with out costing a lot of money.
Thanks

The torque convertor change is cheap, around $150.00 for the convertor plus install. The gear change is cheap if you buy a complete used dana 36 center section, and then install it.
C-Vette,
If the vette has good power, I would worry about spinning the tires. You will save a lot of money, that way. A spinning tire is E.T. wasted, until parts start breaking, then it turns into a different story, and more money.

Like what parts? You can sell the AIR pump and probably get a couple bucks, literally. Beyond that, what else can you sell? Take off the AC and the Power Steering and you probably won't have much of a street car anymore.
Sun visors for one example, I'm to tall and they restricted my view. Those were $50. I've got a long list, it doesn't have to be as costly as some make it out to be. Just do your own work.

I've been trying to hook up! Spinning tires gets annoying and is counter to my goal of leaving a stop light so hard that I detach my retinas..
If you really want to spin your tires ....gears and a the correct stall converter will improve your chances

CF Member "Neat" got some impressive gains just by having his dyno tuned. Exhaust plus tuning (and rockers) are pretty good bang for the buck items.
Thanks Greg, I was beggining to think everyone here was against modding unless you go all out. He just wants more low end. I know how he feels I have a bunch of mods but have yet to replace my stock exhaust or gears (2.59).
N2O you are not going to see a big different in performance, WITHOUT doing a few things together, to get the results you want from a car. That includes S/C because you need to upgrade the fuel system along with boost retard to make that work properly.
I brought an 86 vette about 4 years ago. The reason I brought the vette was to race in the ECSCC. I saw how well that racing series was conducted and I wanted to compete in the series. So I put up one and it needed a complete exhaust. I replaced the COMPLETE exhaust with Hooker headers and y-pipe no cats, walker dynomax rear pipe with a crosspipe, and flowmaster mufflers. I went to the track and went some 14.1s and 14.0s and was dissapointted. The only thing that stop my friends from talking smack was the fact they knew what my plan was.
I built a S15 p/u to go to the track and drive around, it had a mild 355 I built. The truck ran 12.0s, I pulled the engine out of the truck, and the plan was to put it in the vette. I replace the cam with a HOTCAM and had a chip burned, and stuck it in the vette. back to the track I went. This time 13.6s still dissapointed. I research and found out about a LT1 conversion, did one myself, and back to the track. 13.0s. I went to 3.07 gears, that put it into a 12.8s - 12.7s. I pickup a SR with an Accel DFI and N2O, changed cams, converters and went to a true 3" exhaust with x-pipe and magnflo mufflers. All with the same long block, so that was really not a factor, to a point. I did all the work myself except for the machine work and exhaust. And test and tune while doing it. I wanted something that I could drive across country if wanted to. But it takes money and time and a lot of research, which I can truely say I learned alot on this board. THANK YOU C4 tech.
The cheapest SINGLE mod is N2O.

Still, it didn't put out that much horsepower, but she was responsive, and I did get my respect. Good Luck.
Joe B.

My "91" has Bosch III injectors, Corsa catback, K&N air filter and 2:59 rear gears and it will spin the tires most of the time except in really hot weather.
Unfortuately, in California Long Tube Headers aren't legal to use.

I have 2,59's i this one for now, and it sucks. it will burn rubber, but i tis not quick or fun. At least 3.07 is required to feel like you have a sports car.
Id venture something is up with the tune of the car, or transmission...
My 85, bone stock on new Kuhmo 712's, and on GS-C's had no problem spinning both tires from a standstill, and I mean, smoke...etc
Powerbrake it and it would spin em as long as you were in the gas...
Id imagine, a 91, with the same basic engine, but with a better ECM, more overall power, should melt the tires off if driven right.
Does a 91 have ASR?
