It depends on the year of the car and since you have NOT supplied that information or filled out your profile it is not possible to provide a correct response.

My bad. I have a 1993 C4. From what I understand - there is a gear change possible in the transmission? Thanks for the help!

Correct. You will need to change your red, 17 tooth, drive gear for a grey, 15 tooth, drive gear, part number, 8642620. The orange, 35 tooth, driven gear will have to be changed for a light blue, 45 tooth, driven gear, part number 25513052. You can probably rotate the VSS 180° to make it fit, but the part number for the correct VSS is 10456092.

RACE ON!!!

When you change your drive gear on the transmission shaft, don't let that little retainer clip fly when you are removing the old gear. Mine came shooting out of the opening for the VSS and went halfway across the garage.
