Pete K is building me a 383..Build w/photos..
About a month ago I emailed Pete K and asked him if he would be interested in building me a shortblock for my 89 Corvette coupe. My original 350 now has 130,000 miles on it and I was looking for a little more power and a fresh motor. Two weeks ago he sent me a email letting me know he had picked up a 350 4 bolt block and could start building me a 383, so for the last 2 weeks we have been back and forth deciding what to put in my new motor. As most of you already know Pete has been building top end street transmissions and racing transmissions for quite a few years, many of which have found their way into Corvette Forum members' cars with great results. What many of you don't know is that Pete is also an accomplished engine builder and has built many custom go fast motors for his various street and track cars. After talking at length with Pete about my build, I have decided to pull out all the stops and let him do a complete engine build instead of just a shortblock, and we have decided to document and photograph the build as it progresses through the next couple months.
I for one, don't have the knowledge to do such a build myself and will be glad to gain the experience through Pete's photos and documentation. So here we go; it should be an interesting next few months.
Here are the first pictures of the 350 4 bolt block Pete picked up for the build. Dirty and Greasy after the teardown its now on its way to be hot tanked.

After the block is cleaned, it will be shotpeened. Shot peening makes the block look like brand new. After all of the machining is done, it will get hot tanked once again. I will snap some more pics as soon as the block is back from peening. It should be a fun build, and a strong runner. You will love a 383. It is what GM should have installed from the factory.

Torque.
Wayne is running a long tube runner tpi, and a fairly stock exhaust. Based on that, it will be hp limited. I strongly suspect that Wayne will continue to mod the intake and exhaust over time. I will offer him any tips and tricks I can, but that will all be his call.
Cam selection should still work well with whatever he decides.
