I use permatex liquid teflon, and have never had a leak.

A couple of years ago Ron at AI sent me a tube of GM teflon sealant and I've been using that tube ever since.

Bolt threads only.

I lube the bottom side of the bolt head with a thin smear of ARP bolt lube to reduce friction, and get more accurate torque readings. For the ends of the manifold, my silicone of choice is Ultra Copper.

I also like the ultra copper. I've been using that for a long time, ten years or more. It works well but can be very noticeable for some intakes. Keep some black around if you want it to blend in, like on the SR lid. I don't use the right stuff product anywhere.

The head bolts this time around I tried loctite head bolt paste. My engine had bad blow by and I found that all the gas in the oil dissolved most of it on some of the bolts. I'm not sure if other products would fare better or not. I usually have my engines fail by breaking the crank or spinning a bearing so this is new having one wear out.

Black high temp silicone. It just looks better than blue or copper. Make sure to check if it will work in fuel related areas if thats where you are at. Dont assume anything, read the tube. I use high temp regardless.

Default Bolt threads

I have been using vasoline petroleum jelly on all nonsealing type bolts. It works good and you don't have to change your tourqe values any. And no I didn't think of this on my own I came across it in some high performance engine building book. Try it it works great and the price is right?

Next best thing to original formula GMS (sealer we used at the GM dealer)..

And liquid Teflon on the bolt threads - essential when using head studs!

I used The Right Stuff on my intake, Permatex Ultra Copper on my rear end plate and water pump, no leaks at all. I need to get some of the Liquid Teflon though.

Tried the ARP stuff and it did NOT seal very well. Had to pull the heads again, clean it all up and do it again with the permatex.
