Is a 4.3 liter OBDI car very similar to the corvette set up.
I just bought a 91 Jimmy:
Its in really good shape.
The problem is the ck engine light is on code:
DTC - 51 Incorrect MEM-CAL
The previous owner said the ECM was replaced a year ago.
The veh will idle up when the SES light is on but runs fine otherwise.
The problem comes and goes sometimes the SES light is off for days.
So is it the ECM again or a bad prom?
Thought u guys might be able to help.. Thanks in advance
Any posibility the computer is the wrong one for the memcal. Pull the computer down (should be up behind the glove box if I remember correctly) and get some numbers off it. While the computer is out get the numbers off the memcal. Check to see if the memcal is fully seated if not remove and reseat the memcal in the computer while you've got it semi apart. I'd take the numbers from the memcal and the computer and call or head over to you local Chevy dealer and ask for part number confirmation.

The ECM# should be 88999152
The Prom should be 16147593
I took them out and put them back in and so far no light for 2 days.
It's a reman unit part# 07806200082550045
on the outside it read ASE 7-8062 & DC code 0908MT
The prom is 16051637
So neither one match the OEM #s hopefully they match one another.
Only time will tell. I'm going to d0 a little more research.
