Default need help

I have a 86 I just rebuilt it was down for 3 yrs and some of the smog control was missing or damaged. It is idleing up and down after it is warmed up like it is opening a vacum leak then it will striaghten up then do it again. Do I need to try and put it back like it was or can I remove all the excess air recycleing equip. and run without it. I should have taken pictures before I tore it down but its to late now.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
Did you reset the IAC?
Intake on correctly, w/no leaks?
I would keep the EGR, it will help the engine and does not cost any HP.
What is damaged and what is missing?

I am holding good vacum for alittle while then it will stumble and start missing then it will clear up again so I don't think I have a leak on the manifold. The vac. line that comes directly from the manifold and goes over to the drivers side headlite area by the canister was cut and I have anotherone in that area but they dont reach each other and are of different size. then there are some vales with vac. lines all over them right in the center where the recycle from the exhaust ties together these have wires from the harness to these have some parts that seem to be missing.

That is a huge vacuum leak, if it's left unplugged. That line should tee at PVC valve, then to canister.

You can eliminate all the AIR stuff, just be sure to plug the vac line to AIR valves.

This is a big help I have the main vac. line pluged but the air valve and air control valve are the ones that look damaged and the tee and purge solinoid are not there. It would do this same thing before rebuild to an extent after running her hard she would idle up and down intermitently I replaced the oxygen sensor and she fired up and ran perfect then this started its like it opens a line that has nothing on it then tries to correct the fuel mixture then when it switches the other way it tries to compensate again. that is why I was going to try and dump the air recycle system and try to get a constant.
