Default Bolt size/ u-joint strap?

does anyone Know what the bolt size is for the half straps on the u-joints for the rear axle. The bolt hole is cross threaded and I need to try and re tap it. Just need to know what size tap to use so I don't screw it up anymore. Thanks

Those u joint saddle straps may also be damaged if the hardware installation is any kind of indicator.

You may end up going a different direction with something like this (check your application for fitment/sizing):http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PC...ke%7cCHEVROLET

Take a good bolt to Home Depot and find the nut that fits correctly. Then you will know what you need. Pretty sure they are metric, that is about as far as I can help.

They are 8mm. Take a look at the u-joint replacement write-up I just sent to you.

Or if you have one, measure the threaded diameter of the bolt with a dial caliper, then find the thread pitch with a pitch guage. That's the way I do it.

Thanks for the advice. I did not receive the write up though, just a thumbnail of the bolts.
