This is what I was talking about a few weeks ago... On-Road Emissions Testing. They setup high-tech sensors along the road and can see what you're car is emitting. :cry :cry :cry
My neighbor got caught with his '98 on the Dallas North Tollway. He had to have something fixed on it so that it would pass (not sure what).
*May 1, 2002, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties will begin Accelerated Simulation Mode (ASM2) testing, which includes testing for oxides of nitrogen, (Nox) and full pass/fail OBDII testing on 1996 and newer vehicles.
(full pass/fail OBDII is obviously only done to the 96+)

Wow.... and i thought Pennsylvania was tuff. But thats nothin you want fun try getting your reconstructed title application processed in Pa. Jan. 5 till ???? and still no title. They recently changed the process and now it really sucks. I will never do or recommend processing a salvage certificate again. Now i can see why they lose value.Sorry man, this probably isn't really relative to your post but I needed to complain about it.

Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (89 Paul in cal)
Glock, why would that effect you? Your car is a 1994, it appears the new test is for 96 and up. I am in the Dallas area also. It looks like there will come a day when we will just have to build strickly race cars for the track. Is that so bad? I mean If you stop and consider the risk of street racing these days. Not to sound negative, but there was that wreck on 635 a couple of weeks ago. Two cars were racing and caused a wreck which killed and innocent man and seriously injuryed his daughter. I say save it for the track!!
Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (Da-Cajun)
I save it for the track too.. that's not what I'm discussing here. I wanted a mean car, and now I have it. This is my daily driver .. aka my only car. I don't have the option like many of you to make my corvette a track only car. I would if I had another car, but I don't.
All cars that are younger than 25 years old (i believe) must be tested. A '96 and newer has to have a basic ASM test as well as the computer test. 95 and older have to have the complex ASM test which does hdyrocarbons, NOx's, etc...
I think one thing I can do is get a waiver because I'm out of state. I'm trying to find something about that.

No more programming your computer to compensate for emissions ....

Welcome to the wonderfull crap we've been dealing with for a while in Ca!!!
The Tx. OBD-2 test is following along the lines of the fed.50 state proposal that's coming soon. I read that whole thing-don't worry-you can still program your own! So long as your car is tuned properly; blms 128, no codes etc. it'll pass. They are going to scan it. They are not going to download your bin and compare it to stock. Now for example; if you blocked off your egr and disabled it in the bin by changing the temp on to max.-that they'll catch if they're looking as the egr should command on and it doesn't.

Stay in Norman :D
Gotta love Oklahoma emissions ;)
hehe.. i might eventually try and tag it here... i would have to figure out insurance stuff though .. :( . I get a big discount because i'm on my dad's policy of over 20 years with geico. I don't think i'll find similar on my own here in OK.

Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (blk90rdstr)
blk90rdstr- I did a reconstructed title for one of my Vettes (I guess it was before January of this year) and it didn't take too long (for a DMV) maybe like 6-8 weeks. This includes getting the Pastapo out to verify the information. I think you're right about on schedule...
Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (Glock'94)
I still don't see anything about out of state emmissions. For example my car is from KY, which doesn't have the same clean air acts, Louisville is the only place I know that does (trust me, they need it) So what happens should I drive my car through Texas and get picked up by one of these things.
Kinda makes you think you can get out of it if the car isn't registered in Texas.

It is registered in Texas :( It has to be so that I can be on my father's insurance policy and get a nicely reduced price. Geico probably wouldn't cover me at all if I wasn't on my dad's.
Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (Glock'94)
You'll probably be ok. I think Colorado has tougher emissions laws than Texas and my 383 passed with flying colors - but I don't have the Hot Cam. But there are others here who have passed with the Hot Cam with no problems.
Re: More Dallas Emissions problems ... :( (Glock'94)
I have seen them setup at the exit ramps at the I635 to I35 ramps. You can see them ahead of time and just take another exit. They are avoidable from what I have seen so far.
Obviously if you have out of State plates, you will not be cited. I think it would only be used against a resident of the effected counties.
